Health and Safety (H&S) Professional (Pro): Based in the United States and reports to the Marine Health & Safety (H&S) Director. A Facility (H&S) Pro provides EHS leadership and support to their assigned ADM facility and vessels.
Position Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and review of health and safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and corporate regulations, including USCG and TSMS.
- Audit performance and compliance with policies and regulations. Work closely with management to achieve safety action plan success. Provide leadership, guidance, mentoring, training, and public presentations as necessary.
- Advise the director and vessel management on the status of Safety Action Plan actions and areas requiring focus and leadership.
- Build management and employee dedication and passion for safety through effective leadership and influence.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of health and safety programs and policies via monitoring and auditing.
- Maintain knowledge of environmental, health, and safety regulations and policies. Communicate requirements effectively and assist facilities and vessels with implementation.
- Lead, support, and encourage leading indicators tracked by KPIs.
- Ensure safety reporting compliance within safety management systems.
- Act as a champion and mentor for colleague safety engagement, including Values-Based (behavior) Safety.
- Perform safety training and maintain records.
- Lead or participate in incident investigations.
- Oversee injured colleague cases.
- Serve as liaison with governmental entities such as USCG, and be familiar with relevant regulations.
- Ensure compliance with stormwater, waste, asbestos, and pollution prevention plans, including inspections, training, and reporting.
- Maintain environmental records and EMS compliance.
- Utilize and maintain environmental management systems for data and documentation.
- Drive continuous environmental improvement as the lead of the EMS.
- Be an environmental steward.
Ideal Candidate:
Some knowledge of environmental regulations and programs preferred.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; exceptional experience may waive this requirement.
- Minimum five years in a dedicated EHS role or a Safety degree.
- Proven leadership skills.
- Effective communication skills, including public speaking.
- Strong digital literacy, including Microsoft Office and quick learner of other systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a team.
- Ability to recognize hazards, assess risks, and recommend controls.
- Minimal travel, sometimes on short notice.
- Valid TWIC card or ability to obtain one.
