Bizzell is seeking a Safety Officer at Guthrie Jobs Corps Center located in Guthrie, Oklahoma. The Safety Officer will be responsible for establishing systems to maintain the safety of students, staff, and property. The role includes serving as the chair of the center safety committee, assisting the Safety/Security Manager with safety inspections, walk-throughs, and other department duties. The Safety Officer must follow policies and procedures in accordance with DOL, PRH, Center, and The Bizzell Group requirements.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Performs building safety checks weekly and provides written feedback to Safety/Security Manager.
- Conducts regular inspections of GSA vehicles for safety and maintenance and communicates concerns to the Safety/Security Manager and Senior Driver.
- Conducts weekly safety training for new students.
- Assists the Safety/Security Manager with investigations of safety-related issues.
- Monitors the Center grounds daily throughout the training day to ensure all personal protective equipment is used and safe work habits are followed.
- Develops, implements, and maintains the Center Safety Committee.
- Conducts safety orientations for new employees.
- Assists Safety/Security Manager in maintaining a vibrant and strong Safety Cadet Program.
- Assists the Safety/Security Manager with security investigations as requested.
- Attends regular OSHA and DOL Safety training.
- Works towards meeting performance standard goals.
- Follows CDSS plan and Code of Conduct system daily.
- Adheres to property control policies and procedures.
- Complies with all DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulations, QAP, company policies, Job Corps notices, and center policies.
- Maintains good housekeeping and safety practices in all areas.
- Demonstrates and abides by The Bizzell Group’s core values and operating principles.
- Models, mentors, and monitors Career Success Standards.
- Helps students become more employable through continuous reinforcement.
- Participates in PRH-mandated staff training; non-participation may lead to disciplinary action.
- Performs security duties as directed.

Qualifications
- Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Thorough knowledge of occupational health and safety.
- Knowledge of safety management information systems.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Experience
Two years of occupational health and safety or related experience.
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate degree preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid State Driver’s License.
