Safety Manager - Night Shift (Transportation)

Baldor Safety Managers oversee safety activities at the Baldor Bronx Facility. These professionals work in partnership with our Operations, Fresh Cuts, Transportation, Human Resources, Facilities, Sanitation, and Food Safety teams. Under the direction of leadership, they are responsible for ensuring the safety of Baldor personnel at the Bronx location.

This role ensures that Baldor Specialty Foods personnel work in environments that meet minimum safety standards and incorporate best practices. Safety Managers oversee the implementation of programs, plans, policies, and procedures to reduce risks and ensure safety for employees, contractors, and visitors. The role covers multiple specialty areas, including OSHA, ANSI, FDNY, FDA, and other relevant regulations and standards.

Responsibilities include managing Safety Specialist I, II, & III employees, as well as the Safety Team Lead. The Safety Manager summarizes and triages communications to the Sr. Regional Safety Manager, oversees safety protocols and procedures, and leads safety initiatives in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

1. Master comprehensive safety concepts and principles.
2. Lead the safety team and departmental projects with minimal guidance.
3. Perform complex tasks following established processes.
4. Work independently with minimal supervision.
5. Lead projects and be accountable for ongoing activities.
6. Serve as a resource for less experienced colleagues.
7. Handle complex safety issues and escalate only the most challenging cases.
8. Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring.
9. Implement safety programs and procedures across the facility.
10. Develop and execute safety policies and procedures.
11. Maintain a strong presence on the warehouse floor.
12. Build effective relationships with leaders, peers, vendors, and staff.
13. Support leadership decisions and team responsibilities.
14. Investigate safety incidents and apply best practices for solutions.
15. Research standards and best practices for application at the facility.
16. Assist with additional duties or projects as assigned.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of warehouse safety.
• Ability to perform complex tasks independently.
• Excellent analytical, critical thinking, verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.

• Proficiency in English; Spanish/French a plus.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• OSHA 30, OSHA 500-level courses, or equivalent.
• Significant warehouse experience preferred.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant safety experience.
• Subject matter expertise and certifications.

Technology Skills

• Microsoft Outlook, Kronos, Microsoft Exchange, Office Suite, Google Suite, Microsoft List.
• Microsoft Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
• Management software such as Origami (preferred).

Work Environment

• Night shift position.
