Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Safety Manager to implement corporate, field, and office ESH policies across assigned business units and project sites in the United States. You will champion the Layton Way, uphold safety culture, and manage complex safety programs including CCIP, with extensive travel to project sites.

The role requires 5+ years of ESH experience, strong regulatory knowledge, and the ability to coach teams while driving continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Safety & Health or related field (or equivalent).
• 5+ years of ESH experience.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, DOT, EPA regulations.
• Accreditations preferred: CHST, ASP, CSP, ICRA.
• Previous CCIP experience preferred.
• Ability to travel extensively across the U.S. as project needs dictate.
• Basic Spanish language communication preferred.
• Industrial hygiene knowledge and best practices.
• Skilled communicator—verbal and written presentations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Teams).
• Strong problem-solving, organization, attention to detail, and process improvement.
• Strong interpersonal skills; ability to coach and develop team members.

Responsibilities

• Champion safety programs and ensure policy adherence across sites.
• Uphold Layton Way: safe, honest, and high-quality work.
• Establish and reinforce safety culture across multiple project sites.
• Manage safety programs including CCIP and risk management initiatives.
• Provide regulatory and policy reviews, interpretation, and guidance.
• Recommend improvements and conduct technical reviews of ESH tools and training.
• Review audits, observations, and injury statistics to identify risks and propose programs.
• Share data with leadership to develop safety trends and actions.
• Assist leadership in addressing new safety legislation and updates.
• Monitor workers' compensation issues on projects and coordinate responses.
• Conduct incident review meetings with teams and subcontractors.
• Oversee monthly audit programs for compliance and effectiveness.
• Implement training to support Safety 360 and OSHA/MSHA compliance.
• Participate in pre-construction meetings addressing safety needs.
• Ensure accurate, prompt accident reporting and preventive measures.
• Support injury management with cost-control and appropriate medical care.
• Develop and oversee project-specific safety programs.
• Supervise safe behavior of craft workers and employees on sites.
• Interface with SBU leaders, site supervision, subcontractors, and regulators (OSHA, EPA, MSHA).
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
