Michael Page represents a leading structural concrete contractor in the Chicagoland area seeking a Safety Manager to oversee on-site safety programs across hospitality, office, and multifamily projects. You will conduct inspections, implement corrective actions, and collaborate with project teams to raise safety performance.

A Bachelor's in Safety and 7+ years' experience, with OSHA knowledge, are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years in safety/risk management programs relevant to construction.
  • Experience with high-rise structural concrete construction preferred.
  • Familiarity with Supervisor Safety Manuals and OSHA 1910/1926 regulations.
  • Knowledge of Workers' Comp laws and reporting requirements.
  • Hands-on Loss Control and Claims Management experience.

This 90 year old company works with the largest general contractors in Chicago, specializing in all commercial concrete.

Job Description

The job description for the Safety Manager

  • Conducts on-site safety inspections, analyzing work practices to determine safe and efficient methods of performing work.
  • Determines corrective or preventative means and methods where indicated and follows up to ensure they have been implemented.
  • Documents information in relevant reports and analyzes data to make control and improvement recommendation(s).
  • Partners with local office management and project teams in identifying potential safety issues and setting direction affecting overall safety performance for an assigned operating unit or company.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate for the Safety Manager

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, related degree, or has equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Seven years of experience in the administration of safety and risk management programs or occupational safety and health programs supporting similar key responsibilities.
  • Experience in high rise structural concrete construction preferred.
  • Familiarity with construction safety work rules contained in Supervisor Safety Manuals as well as OSHA Part 1910 and 1926 regulations.
  • Understanding of state Workers Compensation laws and reporting requirements.
  • Significant knowledge in Loss Control and Claims Management acquired through documented hands-on experience.
