Job summary

Pepper Source, Ltd. is seeking a Safety Manager based in Van Buren, AR, responsible for safety at both the Van Buren and Rogers plants. This role reports to the Vice President of Plant Operations and requires hands-on leadership of OSHA and DOT safety compliance, training, and recordkeeping.

Work hours are 7:00am-3:30pm with compensation TBD based on experience. The Safety Manager will partner with management to improve safety, environmental programs, and overall profitability and productivity.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; OSHA/DOT regulatory knowledge preferred.
  • Experience developing safety programs, training, and inspections.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedure manuals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement safety policies in compliance with OSHA, DOT and local regulations.
  • Advise management on safety concerns and preventive actions.
  • Plan and deliver employee safety training.
  • Maintain safety files and records; conduct safety surveys and prepare reports.
  • Investigate accidents and identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Assist in developing and upgrading safety and environmental programs.

Job Title: Safety Manager

Reports To: Vice President of Plant Operations

FLSA Status: Salary Exempt

The Safety Manager will be based at our Van Buren facility, but will be responsible for safety at our Rogers plant as well.

Hours: 7:00am-3:30pm

Compensation TBD based on experience

Works with and through management, to ensure compliance with safety and environmental procedures and to assist in the achievement of profitability/productivity requirements:

Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assists, plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT).
  • Advises management personnel on safety compliance concerns and preventative actions.
  • Plans and implements training for employees in worksite safety practices.
  • Maintains safety files and records.
  • Performs safety surveys and inspections, prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures where indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Conducts post-accident investigation and prepares report identifying possible accident causes and hazards for use by company personnel and senior management.
  • Assist, set up and conducts training.
  • Assists in the development, evaluation and upgrading of safety programs.
  • Assist and maintain environmental reports including Storm water permits, SPCC, etc.
  • Excellent computer, communication and training skills

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Language Skills

Must be able to speak, read and write in English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers,

common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic knowledge of computers; Knowledge of Database, Spreadsheet, and Word Processing software.
