Job summary

ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems, Pedestrian Door Solutions, is hiring a Safety Manager to lead the safety function across the continental U.S. and Canada.

You will support NC manufacturing operations and branch offices, owning the workers’ compensation program and leading injury prevention efforts. You will design and deliver safety training, analyze injury data, and partner with managers to drive return-to-work plans while ensuring OSHA compliance and a strong safety culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4+ years of health and safety experience, preferably in construction or field service.
  • Experience administering workers’ compensation claims and return-to-work programs.
  • OSHA 500 certification preferred.
  • CHST or CSP certification preferred.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and training skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

  • Lead safety function across continental U.S. and Canada, supporting NC manufacturing operations and multiple branches.
  • Manage workers’ compensation program end-to-end with carriers and TPAs.
  • Develop and deliver safety training to reduce injuries and incidents.
  • Analyze injury and claims data to identify trends and implement corrective actions.

The Role:

The Safety Manager is responsible for leading the safety function across the continental U.S. and Canada, supporting our manufacturing operations in North Carolina as well as branch offices in multiple locations. This role owns the implementation and administration of the company’s safety program in support of our goal of zero accidents, taking an active role to ensure that safety is never compromised.

A central focus of this position is workers' compensation administration, managing employee claims from first report through resolution and partnering with employees and their managers to support a safe, timely return to work. The Safety Manager will also analyze injury and claims data to identify trends, and will design and deliver training for employees and managers aimed at reducing workplace injuries.

This position reports to the Vice President of Human Resources.

Key Responsibilities:
Workers’ Compensation Administration
  • Manage the workers’ compensation program end to end, including timely submission, documentation, and active management of claims in partnership with our carrier and third-party administrator.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for injured employees, guiding them through the claims process with clear communication and care.
  • Partner with managers to identify light-duty and transitional work options, and drive effective return-to-work plans for injured employees.
  • Monitor open claims, participate in claim reviews, and work to close claims efficiently while controlling program costs.
Injury Prevention, Trends, and Training
  • Track and analyze incident, injury, and claims data to identify trends and root causes; report findings and recommendations to HR and operations leadership.
  • Develop and deliver safety training for employees and managers focused on reducing workplace injuries, including targeted training in response to identified trends.
  • Identify safety training needs across locations and ensure appropriate programs are in place.
Health, Safety, and Compliance
  • Ensure EHS compliance requirements are met, including OSHA recordkeeping and reporting of recordable injuries.
  • Lead or support the investigation of significant EHS incidents and non-conformances; identify, communicate, and follow through on corrective actions.
  • Provide insight on process hazards and risk ratings for incidents, Safe Work Procedures, and Job Safety Analyses.
  • Support the development of EHS tools such as site-specific standards, training materials, Job Safety Analyses, and Safe Work Procedures.
  • Provide EHS information to customers and vendors as requested.

What You Will Need:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in health and safety, preferably in the construction or field service industry.
  • Demonstrated experience administering workers’ compensation claims and return-to-work programs.
  • OSHA 500 certification preferred.
  • CHST or CSP certification preferred.
  • Excellent critical thinking, organization, and written and oral communication skills, with the ability to adapt quickly.
  • Ability to analyze safety and claims data to identify trends and translate findings into action.
  • Strong training and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage audiences from the shop floor to the leadership team.
  • High level of accountability and ownership.
  • Self-starter with an innovative approach and a willingness to dig into details when needed.
  • Relationship builder, able to pull people together and rally the organization around common goals and a common safety culture.
  • Ability to travel as required (up to 50%).
