Job summary

Transdev North America is seeking a Safety & Security Manager to lead the transportation safety program within the TAS division. You will coordinate with the Director of Safety & Compliance and stakeholders to build a culture of safety and ensure regulatory compliance across operations.

Your responsibilities include incident management, safety audits, training liaison, fatigue programs, safety metrics, and on-call response with up to 25% travel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred with transportation safety or related field.
  • OSHA certifications (COSS/COSM) a plus.
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certifications a plus.
  • Strong driving record and regulatory compliance knowledge.
  • 3+ years in transportation safety or safety compliance desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations across operations.
  • Liaise with vendors and stakeholders to enforce TAS safety initiatives.
  • Assist incident management including reporting, investigation, and root cause analysis.
  • Represent TAS safety in cross-functional inspections at client sites.
  • Liaise with training staff for remediation (Collisions, Fatigue, etc.).
  • Lead safety campaigns, signage, and employee safety incentives.
  • Implement fatigue program efforts with TAS operations management.
  • Maintain safety records, regulatory documentation, and digital reporting systems.
  • Present safety findings and metrics to leadership and stakeholders.
  • On-call to respond to critical incidents; 25% travel may be required.

Overview

The Safety & Security Manager contributes to the transportation safety management process and provides overall support and technical guidance as it pertains to operational safety. Coordinates through their management team and the Director of Safety & Compliance as well as other stakeholders in crafting strategies in building a culture of safety within the Transdev Autonomous Vehicle Division (TAS).


Competitive compensation package of minimum $87,360 – maximum $99,840

Key Responsibilities


  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding transportation and workplace safety (OSHA, Workers Compensation, and other government entities).

  • Liaison with outside vendors and stakeholders to assure operational safety compliance to prescribe TAS initiatives.

  • Assists with the incident management process including reporting, investigation, documentation, root cause analysis, corrective action development, and management and supervisor field training.

  • Represents the TAS safety management team in cross functional facility and process inspections at client and TAS managed sites.

  • Liaison to training and operations staff for remediation activities (Collisions, RREs, Fatigue).

  • Responsible for company and location safety initiatives, programs, campaigns, workplace signage and employee safety incentives to reduce workplace accidents.

  • Implements fatigue program efforts with requisite TAS operations management.

  • Supports safety committee membership for each site and cultivates activity.

  • Owns quality assurance of all safety escalation chain of command processes and reporting, ensuring accuracy, attention to detail, regulatory compliance, and timely resolution of safety concerns.

  • Drives accuracy, reliability, and timely delivery of safety escalation processes, investigations, root cause analyses, corrective action plans, and reporting related to vehicle collisions, workplace incidents, physical security events, distracted driving, fatigued driving, and other safety-related events.

  • Collaborate with the TAS Compliance Team on post-incident investigations, trend analysis, regulatory reporting, follow-up validation, and implementation of corrective actions.

  • Maintains and audits safety records, investigation files, regulatory documentation, and digital reporting systems to ensure accuracy, organization, and compliance.

  • Ensure all active operators are trained on all safety policies and procedures.

  • Conduct safety audits and inspections of the fleet, facility and operator workforce as needed.

  • Capable of responding quickly to changing and potentially high-pressure environments.

  • Prepare and present safety findings, performance metrics, investigation results, and operational updates to leadership, employees, clients, and stakeholders through clear verbal and written communication.

  • Enforce and monitor compliance with Transdev Autonomous Services' (TAS) Zero-Tolerance Drug and Alcohol Policy, including supporting testing requirements, investigations, documentation, and corrective actions in coordination with the TAS Compliance Manager.

  • Be on call to respond to critical incidents.

  • 25% travel may be required.

  • All other duties as assigned.


Required Education and Experience


  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred) and/or experience in a related field like Transportation Safety Management, Logistics or related field

  • OSHA certifications a plus i.e. Certified Occupational Safety Specialist (COSS or COSM)

  • Current CPR, AED and First Aid certifications a plus

  • Meets driver requirements, including driving record and criminal history under applicable regulations and laws in the state(s) in which they will be working.

  • Minimum of 3 years of transportation management, safety management, environmental health and safety, or safety compliance experience. Experience conducting incident investigations, root cause analysis, OSHA compliance activities, Workers' Compensation administration, and regulatory reporting is strongly preferred.

  • Experience serving as a liaison with OSHA, Workers' Compensation carriers, third-party administrators, and other federal, state, or local regulatory agencies.


Required Knowledge Skills And Abilities (KSAs)


  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and PowerPoint) and Google Workspace applications, including the ability to create spreadsheets, analyze safety data, track trends, develop dashboards, generate reports, and present findings to stakeholders.

  • Intermediate knowledge of logistics software.

  • Working knowledge of performance management/monitoring systems.

  • Working knowledge of federal and state safety laws, and OSHA standards as well as Transdev Safety Policies.

  • Ability to analyze safety data, identify risk trends, conduct root cause analyses, and develop effective corrective and preventive solutions.

  • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely using appropriate mediums (face-to-face or electronic communication), listen effectively, demonstrate understanding, and clarify meaning for others.

  • Ability to analyze, define, diagnose, and resolve problems based on sound logic and rationale.

  • Ability to develop, coach, and mentor others including the ability to provide development experiences, advise, and teach to prepare others for effective job performance.

  • Develop and deliver informative presentations that effectively communicate safety metrics, incident findings, compliance updates, and improvement strategies to leadership, employees, clients, and external stakeholders.

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records, audit documentation, investigation reports, and regulatory compliance files.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

  • Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance. Must be available and willing to work weekends and holidays to support business needs.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced constantly evolving environment.


Physical Requirements


  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting

  • Regularly uses hands and fingers to operate equipment and technology; communicates effectively by speaking and hearing; and safely ascends and descends stairs and ladders as required.

  • Most work is accomplished indoors and outdoors or well-ventilated facilities; and

  • The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.


Pre-Employment Requirements


  • Must be 21 years old;

  • All Transdev employees must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check. Safety Sensitive Positions will also be subject to a physical screening

  • Transdev maintains a Drug Free Workplace and may require participation in a random drug screening program.
