Job summary

Transdev North America is seeking an Operations Supervisor to oversee the client’s autonomous driving testing program on site. You will manage a team of operators and coordinate daily dispatch, safety, and performance metrics to meet client requirements.

This role emphasizes safety as the top priority, with responsibilities spanning scheduling, incident reporting, stakeholder communication, and continuous process improvement.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or 2+ years of operations leadership experience preferred.
  • Engineering, Operations, or related field degree preferred.

About the Role

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for managing and overseeing the operations of the business unit while acting as the Transdev liaison between the Client's program managers and Transdev employees. They manage a team of operators and ensure efficient delivery of the missions requested by our Client.

You will be on the ground floor of new technology that will shape the way people travel. At the same time, you will be helping implement and drive change for your community and the world.

Autonomous vehicle operators and supervisors play an important role in enabling the client to achieve its goal of developing and commercializing its autonomous driving technology, services, and passenger experiences.

  • Competitive compensation package of minimum $79,040 – maximum $91,520

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain Transdev’s high standard of safety, inside and outside the vehicle
  • Operate with safety as the primary goal
  • Act as deputy for technology by communicating courteously with management, engineers, and the public
  • Respond to system emergencies, investigate and complete accident reports, incidents, and customer complaints
  • Public/customer-facing management and leadership of hourly workforce
  • Field work and on‑road operations with workforce required to dispatch, respond, and troubleshoot
  • Strategic planning and forecasting to meet client demands
  • Remote workforce management, scheduling, and staffing to meet client requirements
  • Results driven and capable of translating TAS and client deliverables, KPIs, and metrics into daily performance
  • Assist team members with payroll, interpersonal issues, and career development
  • Communicate announcements to the team and lead debriefs with safety messages at the forefront
  • Support the client’s operations leadership team in daily operations management of dispatch, including mission assignment, leading meetings, and communicating with internal and external stakeholders
  • Coordinate, monitor, and supervise the activities of subordinates and inform other management personnel of operational or personnel problems, offering ideas toward resolution
  • Ensure compliance throughout the division to global process standards and work on continuous improvement initiatives
  • Respond to service problems and investigate unsafe location/situation reports, making recommendations to resolve the unsafe situation
  • Develop and schedule program work plans in accordance with specifications with the client’s staff; oversee daily operations and coordinate activities of the program, determining priorities
  • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality of all information
  • Apply policies, procedures, and standards, taking personal responsibility for safety of self and others during testing
  • Perform all other duties as required
Required Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university preferred or 2+ years of operations experience leading teams
  • Degree in Engineering, Operations, or related field preferred
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Proficiency using a touchscreen smartphone (Android preferred)
  • Ability to use a computer to generate reports and schedules
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret system operating rules, regulations, policies, phases, and routes
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to organize and perform work efficiently
  • Awareness and willingness to use Operational Excellence tools and techniques
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a large group of drivers
  • Experience with performance metrics and process improvement
  • Ability to work under different managers
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding department performance goals
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving and analytical skills
  • Flexible to work early mornings, evenings, and/or weekends; shift flexibility may be required
  • Eager, self‑starter with good judgment, able to work in fast‑paced, high‑stress environments
  • Punctual, reliable, and team player
  • Travel up to 20% of the time
  • Available to be on call and responsive for 24/7 operations
Physical Requirements
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, manipulate, handle, feel, reach with hands or arms, talk, and hear
  • Must be able to withstand working outdoors in inclement weather
  • Frequently required to sit
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and smell
  • Occasionally required to lift up to 45 pounds
  • May work in extreme heat and cold, and damp environments with moderate noise
  • Remaining work is accomplished by standing and walking for up to 10 hours during shifts; may also be conducted in an office or cubicle with a telephone and computer, spending time sitting, typing, or looking at a computer

  • Must be 21 years old
  • All Transdev employees must satisfactorily complete a pre‑employment drug screen and background check. Safety‑sensitive positions will also be subject to a physical screening.
