Job summary

Greenwood Associates Inc. in Illinois is seeking a Safety Specialist to promote a safe, compliant workplace. Reporting to the Director of Operations, you will lead safety programs, coordinate training, and manage records across the organization.

This is a salary, exempt position focused on reducing hazards, investigating incidents, and driving continuous improvement. Requires 2–5 years of safety experience and strong OSHA knowledge.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Safety, or related field preferred.
• 2–5 years of safety, EHS, manufacturing, logistics, or industrial operations experience preferred.
• Experience with safety inspections, investigations, and employee training.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and reporting requirements.
• Excellent organizational and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain company safety policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and other applicable regulatory requirements.
• Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
• Recommend and track corrective actions and follow up to ensure timely completion.
• Maintain safety records, reports, permits, and documentation.
• Coordinate safety training and toolbox talks; promote safety initiatives.
• Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, near misses, and property damage incidents; identify root causes and corrective actions.
• Prepare incident reports and maintain accurate records; track safety metrics and trends.
• Lead environmental, health, and safety (EHS) compliance programs and risk-reduction efforts.
