Job summary

County Materials Family of Companies in Janesville, Wisconsin, is seeking a Safety Intern who will support the safety department by implementing and maintaining safety protocols and procedures. You will work closely with Operations and other members of the safety team to ensure a safe and compliant work environment for all team members.

Administrative support and field exposure will be the primary objectives of this position.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in safety-focused coursework.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in using basic office software and comfortable learning new systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate safety records and assist with safety manuals, guidelines, and training materials.
• Coordinate new-hire safety training, develop materials and presentations, and track employee participation.
• Conduct safety inspections, work with Operations to address hazards, and assist with internal and external audits.
• Assist in the investigation of incidents, gathering relevant information for reporting and analysis.
• Support the development and implementation of emergency response plans by coordinating drills and exercises to ensure team members are familiar with emergency procedures.
• Communicate safety policies, procedures, and updates to team members and assist in promoting a culture of safety through regular communication and awareness campaigns.
• Compile and analyze safety data to identify trends and areas for improvement and generate reports for management regarding safety performance and compliance.
• Stay informed about relevant safety regulations and ensure the organization's compliance and assist in the preparation of regulatory reports.
