Job summary

Turner Construction Company is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Intern for our Reston location. You will assist in safety program support on construction sites and office locations, under supervision.

This role offers exposure to Building Life Safety practices and real-world safety operations. Requirements include enrolled college students in Occupational Safety & Health or related field, with strong written and verbal communication, detail orientation, and ability to work standard

Qualifications

• Enrolled and actively pursuing a college or university degree in Occupational Safety & Health or related field.
• Minimum of 1 year of completed education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Basic knowledge of safety and environmental principles and techniques.
• Desire to learn about construction management and the construction industry.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing safety programs and life safety initiatives on job sites and offices.
• Identify and report safety violations or unsafe practices with emphasis on imminent danger.
• Coordinate safety duties for committees, preplanning meetings, and toolbox talks.
• Support training at safety meetings and orientations.
• Review subcontractor safety programs for compliance with policies and regulations.
• Promote safe work practices and maintain records as required (OSHA logs, training).
