Heidelberg Materials North America is seeking a Safety Summer Intern to support our Aggregate and Ready-Mix operations. This internship offers hands-on experience in occupational health and safety within a manufacturing and construction materials environment.

You will assist with safety inspections, incident investigations, training, and compliance documentation while collaborating with operations and safety teams to promote a strong safety culture and continuous improvement.

  • Help maintain safety records, compliance documentation, and reporting requirements.
  • Partner with operations and safety teams on projects that promote a strong safety culture and continuous improvement.

Reporting to the Area Safety Manager, we are seeking a motivated and safety-focused Safety Summer Intern to support our Aggregate and, Ready-Mix operations. This internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in occupational health and safety while working alongside industry professionals in a dynamic manufacturing and construction materials environment. The intern will assist with safety initiatives, compliance activities, inspections, training, and continuous improvement projects that help create a safe and healthy workplace for all employees.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Assist with safety inspections, audits, and field observations to identify hazards and support risk reduction efforts.

What Are We Looking For
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health & Safety, Safety Management, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in workplace safety, risk management, and industrial or manufacturing operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, build relationships, and work collaboratively with employees at all levels.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated individual who is eager to learn, takes initiative, and thrives in both field and office environments.
Work Environment
  • Combination of office and field work at industrial and construction materials facilities.
  • Frequent exposure to active operating environments, including quarries and ready-mix plantsfacilities.
  • Regular walking, climbing, and outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with all company safety standards.
