Job summary

Heidelberg Materials North America is offering a Safety Summer Intern position to support Aggregate and Ready-Mix operations. The role focuses on safety inspections, incident investigations, training delivery, and maintaining compliance documentation in a hands-on manufacturing environment.

You will work with operations and safety teams to promote a strong safety culture, learn risk-management practices, and gain exposure to field and office activities across multiple facilities.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health & Safety, Safety Management, or a related field.
• Strong interest in workplace safety, risk management, and industrial or manufacturing operations.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, build relationships, and work collaboratively with employees at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Assist with safety inspections, audits, and field observations to identify hazards and support risk reduction efforts.
• Participate in incident investigations, data analysis, and corrective action tracking to improve workplace safety performance.
• Support the development and delivery of safety training, toolbox talks, and employee engagement initiatives.
• Help maintain safety records, compliance documentation, and reporting requirements.
• Partner with operations and safety teams on projects that promote a strong safety culture and continuous improvement.
