Job summary

ARUP Laboratories, a national clinical and anatomic pathology reference laboratory based in Salt Lake City, UT, seeks a Safety Specialist to monitor and enforce safety and environmental compliance. This role oversees regulated waste management, training programs, and emergency response preparedness within a CDC/OSHA-regulated environment.

Responsibilities include waste collection, labeling, documentation, and participation in HazMat drills.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Associates degree in Chemistry and Life Science or related field preferred.
• Certifications in Hazardous Materials Management or Spill Response are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees collection, packaging and disposal of regulated laboratory wastes.
• Ensures proper labeling and containment of waste containers.
• Maintains documentation of waste shipments and related data.
• Participates in HazMat Response Team and safety audits.
• Conducts training sessions on life safety, emergency planning and hazardous materials handling.
