Augusta University is seeking an Occ Health & Safety Technician to ensure a safe, compliant workplace across labs and facilities. You will review environments, manage hazardous materials, and support spill response and training under program managers.

The role emphasizes laboratory safety, regulatory adherence, and collaboration with faculty, staff, and students to minimize risks in radiological, biological, chemical, and fire safety areas.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in chemistry, biology, nuclear science, industrial hygiene, environmental science, radiation protection, or closely related discipline.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety, regulatory compliance, and waste management.
• Ability to work in a laboratory/safety environment with regulatory oversight.

Responsibilities

• Inspect laboratories for safe and compliant use of radiological and biological materials and chemicals.
• Track hazardous materials inventory, storage, and disposal per regulations.
• Coordinate hazardous waste disposal and document activities.
• Conduct Life Safety inspections and certify safety equipment.
• Assist in indoor environmental quality assessments and spill response.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
