Job summary

Springfield Water and Sewer Commission seeks an entry-level Emergency Preparedness and Safety Specialist to support the Safety Department in updating and maintaining emergency plans, documents, and forms, and coordinating training across locations to ensure staff safety.

The role requires familiarity with federal, state, and local safety regulations, strong technical writing skills, and a detail-oriented approach to editing regulatory documents, with a view to helping deliver safe drinking water

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with coursework in emergency planning, compliance auditing, reading and understanding regulations.
• Minimum of one year of health and safety experience or in an emergency planning role.
• Excellent technical writing skills and grammar.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and update the Emergency Response Plan and related emergency planning documents
• Coordinate Emergency Response training, exercises and drills with stakeholders
• Assist with workplace safety inspections to ensure worker safety and regulatory compliance
