Job summary

ELMHS is seeking a Safety and Emergency Preparedness Coordinator to plan, coordinate, and oversee safety programs. The role focuses on regulatory compliance, inspections, training, and reporting, collaborating with local, state, and federal partners to reduce risk and enhance emergency response.

The position requires four years of relevant safety/administrative experience or six years of combined full-time experience with related work, with a bachelor’s degree plus one year or an advanced degree

Qualifications

• Four years of experience in safety inspection or training, emergency preparedness, safety education or promotion, or administrative services.
• Six years of full-time work experience plus one year of experience in safety inspection or training, emergency preparedness, safety education or promotion, or administrative services.
• A bachelor’s degree plus one year of experience in safety inspection or training, emergency preparedness, safety education or promotion, or administrative services; OR an advanced degree.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and coordinate the safety program to reduce accidents and protect property and equipment.
• Conduct monthly review of department-level Hazardous Communication monitoring and ensure SDS are current.
• Maintain processes to track and report safety-initiated projects and resource requisition.
• Inspect facility prior to emergency events and after, documenting issues and proposing solutions.
• Create emergency response After Action Reports (AAR) for records and audits.
• Organize drills, exercises, and training with city, state, and federal agencies to safeguard against terrorism.
