Job summary

The Springfield Water and Sewer Commission is seeking an entry-level Emergency Preparedness and Safety Specialist to support the Safety Department in updating emergency response and health and safety plans, documents, and forms, and to coordinate training exercises across locations.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree (strongly preferred), at least one year of health and safety experience, excellent technical writing skills, and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with coursework in emergency planning, compliance auditing, regulations, or occupational health and safety is strongly preferred.
• Minimum of one year of relevant experience in health and safety or emergency planning and compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and update Emergency Response Plans and related documents as directed by the Manager.
• Coordinate Emergency Response training, exercises and drills with stakeholders.
• Assist with workplace safety inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
