Job summary

Sabert Corporation is seeking an EHS Specialist for the Chicago site to develop and audit environmental, health, and safety policies, procedures, and programs aimed at promoting a zero-injury culture.

You will work with cross-functional teams to drive proactive EHS initiatives, conduct risk assessments, and support emergency preparedness and regulatory compliance. This role emphasizes hands-on field work and effective communication across all levels of the organization.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in safety engineering, environmental, industrial hygiene or related field required or equivalent experience.
• Two+ years of safety/health experience, preferably in manufacturing.
• Knowledge of federal and local EHS regulations (OSHA, EPA, CDC).
• Ability to identify, evaluate and recommend controls for hazards.
• Strong communication, facilitation, ownership and leadership skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and tasks.

Responsibilities

• Support Sabert Chicago site EHS program and drive proactive risk mitigation.
• Engage with employees, supervisors, and managers to improve EHS program.
• Lead or participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Develop root cause analyses and corrective actions.
• Assist in implementing safety policies to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Perform Job Hazard Analyses and PPE hazard assessments.
• Review, update and develop written programs with the EHS Manager.
• Contribute to emergency preparedness planning and annual drills.
• Promote a strong EHS culture with cross‑functional teams.
• Enter safety work orders and update visual safety boards.
• Assist in training and coaching site activities.
• Attend Safety Champion meetings and organize safety celebrations.
• Conduct monthly eyewash and first aid cabinet inspections.
• Track KPIs and deliverables to support site management.
• Follow company policies on safety, quality, legality, and security.
