Job summary

Southland Industries seeks a safety-focused foreman to schedule, coordinate, and supervise a small crew, ensuring productivity and adherence to safety standards. You will act as a liaison with management and clients, conduct toolbox talks, and drive quality on site.

The role requires OSHA-30 and a Texas journeyman license, with union membership as applicable, and a track record of field leadership. You will mentor apprentices, maintain documentation, and support project managers by resolving

Qualifications

• Familiarity with other construction trades.
• Knowledge and understanding of OSHA safety regulations as well as company safety policies and procedures.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to solve problems and resolve conflicts.
• Ability to manage differences and diversity at the workplace.
• Strong planning and scheduling skills.
• Ability to handle administrative duties of position, including completion of required documents.
• Effective use of computers and other technology.
• High school degree or equivalent.
• 5+ years’ experience as a qualified tradesperson.
• OSHA-30 certification (if not currently certified, must be obtained within six (6) months from date of hire).
• An active Texas Journeyman Electrical license is required for individuals performing and supervising work in this field.
• Employment is contingent upon active membership in the appropriate local trade union

Responsibilities

• Schedule, coordinate, supervise, provide leadership, and ensure safety and productivity of a small work crew.
• Act as management liaison and/or designated client contact.
• Facilitate a safe work culture and ensure adherence to safe working conditions.
• Conduct toolbox talks and respond to technical safety questions.
• Participate in safety/incident investigations and reviews.
• Maintain foreman's log/diary and prepare reports.
• Ensure work meets standards and job specifications; review plans/blueprints.
• Assist superintendent with production planning and quality reports.
• Maintain timekeeping records and document attendance.
