Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a construction foreman to lead a small crew on field projects in Texas. You will schedule, coordinate, supervise, and mentor apprentices while ensuring safety, productivity, and quality on site.

The role requires strong leadership, OSHA knowledge, planning and scheduling skills, and excellent communication. You will conduct toolbox talks, maintain logs, and ensure compliance with plans, blueprints, and applicable union requirements.

Qualifications

• Strong planning and scheduling skills.
• Ability to handle administrative duties and required documentation.
• Effective use of computers and other technology.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years’ experience as a qualified tradesperson.
• OSHA-30 certification (if not currently certified, must be obtained within six months).
• Texas Journeyman Plumber license may be required for supervision work.
• Employment contingent on active union membership.

Responsibilities

• Schedule, coordinate, supervise, provide leadership, and ensure safety/productivity of a small crew.
• Facilitate a safe work culture and conduct toolbox talks.
• Complete safety reports and participate in safety investigations.
• Maintain logs, timekeeping, and documentation of attendance/absences.
• Inspect completed work and ensure it meets plans/blueprints.
• Mentor apprentices and coordinate on-the-job training.
• Advise on equipment/material shortages and production progress.
• Prepare reports as required and maintain project schedules.
• Coordinate with superintendent and client contacts as needed.
• Ensure compliance with union requirements and company policies.
