Job summary

Bollinger Shipyards is seeking a Safety Manager to lead the organization’s safety programs across multiple facilities and ensure regulatory compliance. The role partners with operations leadership to reduce risk and strengthen employee engagement in workplace safety.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, 7+ years for manufacturing or shipyard environments, and proven leadership experience across locations. CPC/CIH preferred. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
• 7+ years of progressive safety experience in manufacturing, shipbuilding, heavy industrial, construction, or related environments.
• Direct leadership experience managing employees.
• Experience leading company-wide safety programs across multiple locations.
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and maritime safety practices.
• Experience conducting incident investigations, risk assessments, and safety audits.
• Professional certifications (CSP, ASP, CIH or similar) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop Safety professionals to foster engagement and continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and industry best practices.
• Develop and enhance safety management systems, policies, and procedures.
• Oversee incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Analyze injury, incident, near miss, and inspection data to identify trends and mitigate risks.
• Partner with operations to conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
• Direct workplace audits, inspections, and behavioral safety observations to improve safety performance.
• Develop and oversee safety training programs to build employee capability.
