Job summary

G.A. West & Co., Inc. is seeking Safety Coordinators for projects across the United States and locally in Mobile, Alabama. These are full-time, long-term roles that may require travel.

Responsibilities include leading safety culture, conducting jobsite inspections, investigating incidents, performing risk assessments, delivering trainings, and ensuring compliance with the EH&S program and contract safety specifications.

Per diem is available for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• Degree in Occupational Safety and Health preferred.
• OSHA 30 certification required.
• Willingness to travel for projects across the United States and Mobile, AL.

• Assist in monitoring subcontractor safety performance.
• Conduct regular jobsite inspections and address violations.

• Lead safety trainings and meetings.
• Prepare and submit JSAs and reports.
• Assist teams in hazard identification and controls.
• Address safety violations promptly at job sites.

Job description

G.A. West & Co. is seeking Safety Coordinators for projects scattered throughout the United States as well as here locally in Mobile, Alabama. These are full-time long-term roles that may require travel. Please see details below:

Responsibilities:

• Lead in promoting company safety culture
• Monitor all safety issues and concerns, and ensure standards of safety are adhered to
• Verify all work is performed in compliance with company EH&S program and contract safety specifications
• Assist in the monitoring of subcontractor safety performance
• Conduct regular jobsite and work area inspections, noting safety violations and corrective actions
• Thoroughly investigate all incidents (including near miss, injury, property damage, general liability) immediately and perform root cause analysis
• Perform risk assessments and develop safety protocols
• Lead safety trainings and meetings
• Prepare and submit JSAs, investigative reports, reprimands, etc.
• Assist project teams in identifying hazards and implementing controls
• Immediately address safety violations at job site(s)
• Assist Project Superintendents in establishing, implementing, and monitoring jobsite emergency action plans.
• Work with Superintendents and Project Managers to obtain and manage required safety documents, signage, and equipment for all assigned job sites
• Verify all workers have the necessary training for the tasks they are performing.
• Other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Degree in Occupational Safety and Health and 1-3 years of experience is preferred. A combination of knowledge and field experience will be considered.
• Must have an OSHA 30
• Must be willing to travel
