Job summary

Southland Industries invites interns to gain hands-on exposure to Occupational Health & Safety within the Design/Build HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection sectors. You will assist the Safety Manager in enforcing safety procedures on project sites and coordinating safety activities across divisions.

Build practical OSHA knowledge, contribute to incident reporting, and collaborate with field teams while learning about safety programs, certifications, and regulatory requirements in a leading MEP

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree aligned with Southland needs: Occupational Health and Safety
• Knowledge of construction safety practices and OSHA regulations
• Experience working with field employees/customers in a professional manner
• Ability to communicate state, federal, local safety regulations clearly
• Strong work ethic and initiative

Responsibilities

• Assist Safety Manager in enforcing safety procedures on sites
• Help implement safety programs and distribute training materials
• Manage certification cards and track industrial equipment training
• Assist in reporting workers compensation claims
• Maintain MSDS manuals and safety tailgate forms
• Support safety meetings and recordkeeping
