Southland Industries, a leading MEP firm, seeks a Safety Coordinator to support the Safety Manager by planning, coordinating, and implementing safety programs, ensuring compliance with OSHA and corporate standards, and fostering a safe workplace for all employees.

The role involves site inspections, documentation, incident investigations, training development, and safety orientations for new hires, with a focus on incident-free operations and regulatory adherence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in safety, Health or Environmental Applied Sciences or related discipline preferred.
• 2-4 years’ experience in related field.
• OSHA 10hr, OSHA 30hr required; OSHA 40hr preferred.
• OSHA 500, CHST or ASP certifications preferred.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA CFR 1910 and 1926 standards or state regs.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving, customer-service and organizational skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and accessing OSHA information online.
• Knowledge of safety operating processes and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Tours and inspects job sites to ensure OSHA compliance; report concerns to safety management.
• Document safety inspections, cite dangerous areas, and recommend corrective procedures; ensure timely correction.
• Maintain site safety documentation: accident reports, inspection reports, training logs; review hazard logs.
• Provide emergency response and participate in accident investigations; submit data to regulatory agencies as required.
• Assist development of training materials and coordinate employee trainings.
• Conduct Safety Orientation for new hires.
