Job summary

LSG Sky Chefs in Des Plaines, IL is seeking a Safety Clerk to support driver safety program operations on-site. You will train new drivers on SOPs, maintain driver files, and ensure compliance with inspections and IDs, while assisting the Safety Supervisor and handling clerical duties.

The role requires organization, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with occasional nights and weekends based on operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain Airport SIDA badge and CBP Customs Seal within 30 days of hire.
• 3–5 years of safety experience preferred; AOA ramp experience may substitute year-for-year for Safety experience.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and other computer applications.

Responsibilities

• SOP training for all new drivers and re-training of drivers.
• Update and maintain all driver files.
• Process all Port Authority/Customs identifications.
• Ensure all State inspections, registrations and Insurance IDs for trucks are current.
• Ensure drivers adhere to A‑1 Inspection procedures.
• Assist the Safety Supervisor and perform other clerical duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Mus possess a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain Airport SIDA badge and CBP Customs Seal within 30 days of hire

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook and other computer applications
• Ability to work with minimum supervision
• Strong analytical, verbal, written, interpersonal and organizational skills

• Ability to work in a fast paced environment with large groups – must be flexible
• Open availability, ability to work nights and weekends as operations require
• Usual shift will be 4am - 1230pm and schedule will be either Wed‑Sun or Thurs‑Mon
