Job summary

Block by Block is seeking a Safety Ambassador in Akron, OH to patrol assigned zones on foot or bike, deter unwanted behavior, and assist pedestrians with directions and information.

This role requires a valid Ohio driver's license, the ability to obtain the Ohio Private Investigator Security Guard Licensure, 18+ years of age, and the stamina to work outdoors in all weather. Weekly pay, pay advance, and benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Experience required; we will train.
• Valid OH Driver's License required.
• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to walk/traverse for eight-hour shifts, with breaks.
• Must work outdoors in all weather; uniforms provided.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English for basic reports.

Responsibilities

• Patrol the assigned zone on foot and/or bike to deter unwanted activity.
• Provide information, assistance, and directions to pedestrians and visitors.
• Observe and report suspicious behavior or incidents to authorities.
• Request compliance from individuals engaging in low-level quality-of-life crimes in a courteous manner.
• Engage pedestrians warmly to provide city information and directions.
• Visit zone businesses to share information and collect contact details.
• Complete basic daily reports in English.

Job description

Job Title: Safety Ambassador

Pay Range: $17.00to $17.00per hour(Weekly Pay & Pay Advance Before Pay Day!)

Shift/Schedule:

• Wed. from 2:00pm to 9:00pm
• Thu., Fri. & Sat. from 2:00pm to 11:00pm

Valid Driver's License REQUIRED

MUST have the ability to obtain Ohio Private Investigator Security Guard Licensure

What You'll Be Doing:

• Patrol the assigned zone on foot and/or bike as a deterrent and be on the lookout for unwanted behavior and activity.
• Provide information, assistance, and directions to pedestrians and visitors. Must maintain a positive, professional demeanor at all times.
• Be watchful for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report to local authorities via established communication methods. Must be able to articulate an accurate description of persons, vehicles, and other identifiers.
• Firmly and courteously request compliance from persons violating low-level quality-of-life crimes, such as panhandling, loitering, disruptive behavior, etc.
• Actively acknowledge and engage pedestrians with a friendly greeting/smile in order to provide directions and city information.
• Responsible for making a specified number of visits to zone businesses to share information and gather contact information.
• Must be able to complete basic daily reports of tasks completed, which requires being proficient in speaking, reading and writing the English language.
