Job summary

Block by Block is seeking a Safety Ambassador to patrol assigned zones on foot or bike, provide directions, and report any suspicious activity. You will engage with the public in a friendly, professional manner while enforcing basic quality-of-life rules.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, valid driver’s license, and be 18 or older. Training is provided, and uniforms are supplied for all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Experience preferred. We will train.
• Valid driver's license required.
• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be physically able to walk or traverse (including biking) for eight-hour shifts.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions. Uniforms provided.

Responsibilities

• Patrol the assigned zone on foot and/or bike and deter unwanted behavior.
• Provide information, assistance, and directions to pedestrians and visitors with a professional demeanor.
• Observe for criminal activity and report to authorities with clear descriptions.
• Request compliance from individuals violating low-level quality-of-life laws.
• Greet and engage pedestrians to share city information.
• Make scheduled visits to zone businesses to share information and collect contact details.
• Complete basic daily reports in English.

Job Title: Safety Ambassador

Pay Range: $17.00to $17.00per hour (Weekly Pay & Pay Advance Before Payday!)

Shift/Schedule:

• Tues. & Wed. from 2:00pm to 7:30pm
• Thu. - Sat. from 12:30pm to 10:00pm
• OFF Days = Sun. & Mon.

Valid Driver's License w/ Clean MVR REQUIRED

What You'll Be Doing:

• Patrol the assigned zone on foot and/or bike as a deterrent and be on the lookout for unwanted behavior and activity.
• Provide information, assistance, and directions to pedestrians and visitors. Must maintain a positive, professional demeanor at all times.
• Be watchful for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report to local authorities via established communication methods. Must be able to articulate an accurate description of persons, vehicles, and other identifiers.
• Firmly and courteously request compliance to persons violating low-level quality-of-life crimes, such as panhandling, loitering, disruptive behavior, etc.
• Actively acknowledge and engage pedestrians with a friendly greeting/smile in order to provide directions and city information.
• Responsible for making a specified number of visits to zone businesses to share information and gather contact information.
• Must be able to complete basic daily reports of tasks completed, which requires being proficient in speaking, reading, and writing the English language.
