Candidates must have a high school diploma (or GED) and at least three years of experience as a security officer or certification from a security officer training program. Knowledge of safety and security requirements is essential, along with a willingness to continue learning. Must be able to deal effectively and professionally with people, including de-escalating disruptive patients or visitors. Responsibilities include patrolling properties, investigating disturbances, managing aggressive behavior, and ensuring safety. CPR certification is required.
Specific duties include patrolling, investigating disturbances, managing aggressive behavior, warning individuals of infractions, escorting individuals when necessary, and using approved techniques to diffuse violence. Safety and Security Officers also secure individuals until law enforcement arrives and provide safety updates during staff meetings.
