Job summary

Aecon is seeking a Safety Advisor to partner with operations across North American utility infrastructure projects. You will lead health and safety orientation, train personnel on fall protection and electrical safety, and develop site-specific safety plans.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the construction industry in a Health and Safety role.
• Three years of experience in electrical safety in construction.
• Strong knowledge of Occupational Safety & Health Administration Regulations for Construction Projects.
• Experience in project-based environments.
• NFPA 70E certification preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with strong relationship management.

Responsibilities

• Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity and belonging.
• Conduct employee health and safety orientation and site-specific safety orientation.
• Train employees in fall protection, traffic management, GHS/SDS, emergency response and electrical safety.
• Coordinate training such as First Aid and High Angle Rescue.
• Conduct workplace inspections and audits.
• Develop workplace safety plans including emergency evacuations and fall protection.
• Distribute safety materials, supplies, and equipment to team members.
• Conduct safety presentations to clients and promote Aecon safety systems.
• Participate in Joint Health and Safety Committees.
• Conduct incident trend analysis and environmental issue coordination.
• Inspect project facilities and coordinate corrective actions.
• Assist with workers' compensation claims and return-to-work programs.
• Conduct accident investigations and mediate safety issues.
• Prepare and assist with internal and external safety audits.
