Job Description

Instructional Aides must have graduated from high school or hold a GED. Must have the ability to learn the operation of equipment, technology.

REPORTS TO: School Principal and/or Program Directors and Teachers

SUPERVISES: Not Applicable

JOB GOAL: To assist the teacher in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning clean environment.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Making instructional materials and aids.
  • Escorting children to and from lunchroom and help with lunchroom duties.
  • Errands and other miscellaneous chores.
  • Typing master copies, tests and reports. Keeping records of dues, fees and sell school supplies.
  • Requesting and distributing of supplies.
  • Helping with library duties.
  • Keeping lab orderly and clean.
  • Making posters and bulletin boards that follow class projects.
  • Gathering hands-on materials that go with project or lessons that carry over to regular classroom.
  • Trouble shooting minor repairs of computer equipment.
  • Talk with teachers and integrate lab with classroom under direct supervision of regular classroom teacher
  • Research software to go with projects and classroom instruction.
  • Load programs on hard drives when necessary and appropriate.
  • Lifting and moving materials.
  • Assisting special needs students with accommodations (includes but not limited to health issues, self-help, transporting, lifting).
  • Under the direct supervision of the teacher in the classroom environment, may work with small groups of students on teacher-directed activities.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor, which might include principal, program director, teacher or Superintendent.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work day to be determined by the Board.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
