Job summary

Nous Research in New York, NY seeks a hands-on Controller to lead day-to-day accounting, close, and financial reporting. You will partner with Product and Engineering to inform pricing and business models, while bringing work previously handled by external providers in-house.

This role requires a CPA and 6+ years in accounting/finance within technology, with responsibility for audits, controls and scalable processes in a fast-growing SaaS-like environment.

Qualifications

• CPA credential required.
• 6+ years accounting/finance including Controller-level in tech.
• Hands-on close ownership and audit prep.
• Strong accounting judgment and ability to explain financial implications.
• Strong Excel and financial modeling skills.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly, quarterly and annual close with clear deadlines and reconciliations.
• Transition accounting from external providers to the internal finance team.
• Prepare US GAAP financial statements and document significant judgments.
• Manage AP/AR, vendor payments, invoicing and collections.
• Oversee cash accounting, forecasting and working capital.
• Coordinate tax preparation with external advisers.
• Build financial controls around spending and approvals.
• Prepare for audits with external accountants and maintain schedules.
• Develop reporting on revenue, expenses and variances.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering on pricing and business models.
• Improve systems linking ledger, billing and expense management.
