Veterans Navigation Network is seeking a compassionate Rural Resource Navigator in Miles City, MT to connect veterans and families with services that enhance stability, independence and quality of life.

The role emphasizes one-on-one support, navigating federal and state benefits, coordinating with healthcare, housing and education resources, and maintaining detailed case notes while protecting client privacy.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong organizational abilities.
• Experience or training in motivational interviewing, case management or related services preferred.
• Willingness to complete required training within six months of hire.
• Experience with veterans, service members or military families preferred.
• Knowledge of VA benefits, programs and services preferred.
• Trauma-informed care and crisis-intervention experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct outreach to service members, veterans, families and community members.
• Use motivational interviewing during intake and follow-up conversations.
• Help individuals understand federal and state veterans’ benefits, services and eligibility.
• Assess needs, abilities, challenges and personal goals.
• Create individualized goal, recovery and safety plans.
• Connect individuals with healthcare, behavioral health, housing, employment, education, legal and homeless-service resources.
• Assist with access to VA disability compensation and other veteran programs.
• Maintain accurate case notes and database of resources.
• Follow up with veterans and family members to review progress and changing needs.
• Coordinate with program leadership on peer mentoring or additional support.
• Develop relationships with government agencies, veteran service providers, funders and community organizations.
• Represent the organization professionally at meetings and events.
• Protect client privacy and confidentiality.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
