Job summary

University of Vermont in Colchester, VT seeks a Veteran Housing Service Coordinator to provide case management and housing navigation for very low-income Veterans in northern Vermont and Clinton County, NY. The role emphasizes Housing First principles and trauma-informed care to improve housing stability.

Responsibilities include guiding families through the housing stability process, connecting them to resources, and delivering direct assistance as needed, with potential for full-time telework

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field and two years of applicable experience required.
• Effective verbal and written communications skills and interpersonal skills required.
• Ability with training to use computerized case management applications to enter and track participant information; ability to understand and explain program details and workflow required.
• Desirable Qualifications: Experiential knowledge as a military veteran and/or with homelessness; training, education, or experience with social services support desirable. Knowledge of the HUD Homeless Management Information System desired.

Responsibilities

• Guide Veterans through the housing stability process using Housing First, Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction and Trauma Informed Care.
