Job summary

The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine seeks a part-time Program Coordinator for the Rural Health Advocate (RHA) within Frontier AHEC to advance healthcare workforce development and community health initiatives in rural Nevada. The role requires liaising with employers, educational institutions, and community partners to build pathways and support care navigation and referrals.

Responsibilities include developing career pathways, coordinating student transitions, and strengthening

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and two years of related work experience; OR a master’s degree and one year of related work experience.
• Experience in program coordination or program management; experience in workforce development, community engagement, public health, education, or a related field
• Certification or licensures Nevada driver’s license

Responsibilities

• Develop and sustain healthcare career pathways for rural students, connecting them to job shadowing, mentorship, internships, certifications, and employment opportunities.
• Coordinate student transitions into workforce experiences.
• Support recruitment and retention strategies that prioritize local workforce development within rural communities.
• Build and maintain partnerships with employers, educational institutions, tribal organizations, and community partners.
• Conduct workforce needs assessments.
• Connect individuals to healthcare, behavioral health, and social services.
• Strengthen referral pathways between healthcare providers, community organizations, and support services.
