Job summary

Actalent in Pittsburgh is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support a short-term surge across autonomy integration programs. You will design and integrate autonomy hardware onto off-road vehicle platforms, using SolidWorks to create detailed models, drawings, and BOMs for ruggedized vehicles.

The role requires 5–10+ years of mechanical design experience, a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, and strong GD&T and manufacturing drawing skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5–10+ years of mechanical design experience.
• Strong proficiency with SolidWorks in a product development environment.
• Experience designing mechanical systems for vehicles or heavy equipment.
• Experience creating manufacturing drawings and assemblies.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed mechanical designs, models, and drawings using SolidWorks.
• Design and integrate autonomy hardware, sensors, computing systems, brackets, enclosures, mounts, and supporting structures onto off-road vehicle platforms.
• Support development of autonomy-ready vehicle kits and subsystem integration packages.
• Perform concept development, packaging studies, and design trade-off analyses.
• Generate fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and BOMs.
• Collaborate with robotics, electrical, software, and systems engineering teams.
• Participate in design reviews and support prototype builds.
• Ensure designs are manufacturable and support installation, integration, and testing on prototype vehicles.
