Job summary

Black Diamond Advanced Technology (BDATech) in Chandler, AZ, is seeking an Electrical Engineer to design rugged military electronic systems. This role involves full lifecycle electrical design, prototyping, testing, and documentation within a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, 3+ years in defense or rugged electronics, hands-on prototyping experience, and strong knowledge of PCB layout, power electronics, EMI/EMC, and MIL-STD

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field (Master's preferred).
• 3+ years of electronics design experience (defense, rugged electronics, aerospace or similar).
• Strong proficiency in circuit design, schematic capture, and PCB layout tools (Altium, Intercept).
• Experience with power electronics, battery systems, DC/DC converters, or embedded hardware is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of MIL-STD standards, EMI/EMC, and environmental/ruggedization design considerations.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop electronic circuits, power systems, and board-level hardware for ruggedized devices.
• Create detailed schematics, PCB layouts, and supporting documentation.
• Perform electrical analyses including power budgeting, signal integrity, EMI/EMC evaluation, and thermal considerations.
• Oversee prototype manufacturing, perform board bring-up, and execute validation testing.
• Develop and maintain engineering documentation such as schematics, BOMs, test procedures, and validation reports.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and software teams to ensure seamless system integration.
• Perform root-cause analysis and troubleshoot issues related to power, signal integrity, environmental performance, or manufacturability.
• Support compliance testing, including MIL-STD, EMI/EMC, environmental qualification, and other relevant standards.
• Interface with suppliers, manufacturing partners, and internal stakeholders to optimize design quality and production efficiency.
