Job summary

UF Health Central Florida in The Villages is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join our team under the direction of the Director/Manager, delivering respiratory therapies per AAARC guidelines and ethical standards.

The role involves performing assessments, implementing and evaluating therapies, and collaborating with nurses and physicians to optimize patient outcomes. Florida-licensed RT with BLS/ACLS/PALS/NRP preferred; up to 90 days to obtain NRP/PALS if not certified.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
• High School Diploma or GED required; some college preferred
• Florida Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) licensure/registration is required; BLS/ACLS/PALS/NRP certifications are required or must be obtained
• If not certified in NRP or PALS, candidate will have 90 days to obtain these certifications

• Deliver, monitor and evaluate respiratory therapies

Job description

Overview

The Respiratory Therapist acts under the direction of the Director/Manager, utilizing Respiratory therapy processes based on American Association of Respiratory Care Guidelines, Statement of Ethics and Professional Conduct: facilitating patient care with the healthcare team, making respiratory assessment, implementing, delivering and evaluating the patient’s respiratory therapy needs.

Qualifications

• Education: - High School Diploma/GED (required) with some college, business, technical training, or Associates of Science Degree (preferred)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist/RRT Licensure/Certification/Registration:
• Florida Registered Respiratory Therapist - BLS - ACLS - PALS - NRP
• Special Skills/Qualifications/Additional Training/Experience Required:
• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English - As applicable RCP staff assigned to maternal-child services will be required to have NRP and PALS certification. Therapist hired without NRP or PALS will have 90 days to obtain their NRP and PALS certification.
