Job summary

UF Health Central Florida is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to work under the direction of the Director/Manager, applying respiratory care guidelines to assess and meet patient needs within the healthcare team.

The role requires RRT licensure in Florida, AS/college exposure, and active BLS/ACLS/PALS or progression toward these standards, with English fluency a must.

Qualifications

• Education as listed: high school diploma/GED with some college or an AS preferred.
• Florida RRT licensure/certification/registration required.
• BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications required or pursued as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate patient care with the healthcare team and respiratory therapy processes.
• Make respiratory assessments, implement, deliver and evaluate patient respiratory therapy needs.

Job description

Overview

The Respiratory Therapist acts under the direction of the Director/Manager, utilizing Respiratory therapy processes based on American Association of Respiratory Care Guidelines, Statement of Ethics and Professional Conduct: facilitating patient care with the healthcare team, making respiratory assessment, implementing, delivering and evaluating the patient’s respiratory therapy needs.

Qualifications

• Education:
• High School Diploma/GED (required) with some college, business, technical training, or Associates of Science Degree (preferred)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist/RRT Licensure/Certification/Registration:
• Florida Registered Respiratory Therapist
• BLS
• ACLS
• PALS
• NRP Special Skills/Qualifications/Additional Training/Experience Required:
• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
• As applicable RCP staff assigned to maternal-child services will be required to have NRP and PALS certification. Therapist hired without NRP or PALS will have 90 days to obtain their NRP and PALS certification.
