Job summary

Rumpke Waste & Recycling in Lima, OH is seeking a Route Supervisor to oversee a team of drivers and ensure safe, reliable waste collection services. Responsibilities include coaching staff, monitoring performance, and maintaining safety and regulatory compliance on daily routes.

The ideal candidate holds a valid Class B CDL, can read maps, and has strong communication skills plus the ability to work independently. Willingness to work nights, weekends, and overtime is required.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication required.
• Ability to lead and develop a team.
• Computer skills; familiarity with Windows and MS Office.
• Knowledge of area and ability to read maps.
• Ability to work independently, make decisions and solve problems.
• Knowledge of DOT/OSHA regulations.
• Ability to drive a truck with manual transmission is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage the daily activities and performance of route drivers.
• Train, coach, and direct employees to improve their overall performance.
• Monitor and enforce quality and safety standards and ensure all compliance goals are met or exceeded.
• Run routes as necessary (absences, vacations, vehicle breakdowns).
• Monitor and track employee attendance and all other required documentation relating to performance management.
• Perform and monitor driver observations and vehicle inspections.
• Plan, distribute, monitor, and follow-up on daily route assignments to ensure customers are serviced per company standards and agreements.
• Conduct investigations for accidents, injuries, and property damage claims.
• Fill in during the absence of other supervisors/office employees or drivers.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
