Job summary

Sharps Medical Waste Services in Baltimore is seeking a Route Service Technician (Box Truck Driver) to service assigned accounts with safe, compliant waste transport. You will operate a 26 ft straight truck, follow DOT regulations, and provide excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two or more years of customer service experience; route management preferred.
• Completion of accredited driving school or 1+ years of commercial driving.
• Current driver’s license with clean record; CDL Class B preferred but not required.
• Current MEC certification or ability to obtain with company help.
• Able to read maps and use computer systems.
• Regularly lift 25–50 lbs, up to 75 lbs.
• Age 25+ with driving experience.
• Able to work in all weather and dynamic environments.
• Safety boots with slip-resistant soles; Bluetooth headset required.
• Covid vaccine preferred; immunizations/credentialing may be required.
• Complete pre-employment screenings including background, drug test, and MVR.

Responsibilities

• Pickup and transport waste safely per regulations.
• Plan daily routes using manifests and schedules.
• Load trucks with necessary supplies for daily service.
• Ensure waste is properly packaged for transport.
• Deliver high level customer service and report issues.
• Secure waste and equipment before driving.
• Complete paperwork including DOT Driver Logs as applicable.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Adapt to fast-paced environments while staying safe.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
