Job summary

The City of Elkins,West Virginia invites applications for a full-time sanitation driver to operate packer trucks along city routes, conduct basic maintenance, and ensure safety standards. Reports to the Sanitation Supervisor and may train coworkers. Will prepare logs and coordinate with staff and the public.

Requires a high school diploma or GED and a WV CDL Class B license; physical duties include lifting up to 100 pounds and operating in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED with 1–2 years of equipment operation experience.
• Valid West Virginia CDL Class B driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

• Operates packer-type trucks with hydraulic lifting devices on assigned routes.
• Completes routes on schedule and performs manual loading when needed.
• Inspects vehicles, reports maintenance, and performs routine tool maintenance.
• Adheres to safety policies and uses safety gear consistently.
• Trains or assists coworkers and may act in supervisor's absence.
• Prepares logs, reports, and forms; communicates with supervisor and public.
