Job summary

Broward County Sheriff's Office Aviation Division is seeking an experienced aircraft maintenance technician to maintain fleet helicopters and related electronics per FAA regulations. The role requires extensive hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and record-keeping, with emphasis on turbine-powered rotorcraft in a law-enforcement setting.

The position supports ongoing flight operations, performs system inspections, and ensures compliance with aviation standards.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent, with possible foreign diploma evaluation.
Vocational/technical training in rotorcraft maintenance and repair.
Three years of maintenance and avionics experience, including two years on turbine-powered helicopters in Part 91/135/145.
Two years’ experience on Airbus H125/H145 rotorcraft equipment.
Knowledge of FAA regulations, testing procedures and maintenance standards.
Hold a valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant license.

Responsibilities

Inspect, repair, overhaul, and maintain fleet aircraft and related components per FAA regulations and manufacturers’ recommendations.
Maintain avionics, electrical, navigation, and mission equipment systems per FAA regs and data.
Conduct routine inspections to ensure safety and proper working condition of flight equipment.
Keep detailed records of work performed, inspections, conditions found, and safety compliance.
Maintain department records, inventory, manuals, and vendor lists.
Perform routine maintenance and flight checks prior to flights.
Respond to callouts promptly and coordinate with supervisors and vendors.
