Job summary

Steel Dynamics, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Technician to support the rolling mill operations on rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.

You will perform welding, cutting and fabrication, and maintain all mechanical systems related to the rolling process. You will troubleshoot and repair high-pressure hydraulic systems, rig and crane equipment, read blueprints and piping diagrams, and work with operations and maintenance teams to ensure continued production.

Qualifications

• Safety oriented.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Prior mechanical maintenance experience in welding & fabricating, industrial hydraulics, pneumatics, manual & automatic lubrication systems, water systems, pipe fitting, bearing & coupling replacement, ability to read prints & schematics.
• Strong willingness to learn.
• Understanding of physics (heat transfer, fluid flow, force and power transmission).
• Understanding of mathematics (geometry, trigonometry).
• Willingness to work scheduled and non-scheduled overtime.
• Strong teamwork focus.
• Ability to work without direct supervision.
• Ability to multi-task & prioritize work assignments with production needs.

Responsibilities

• Rotating shift work including nights and weekends.
• Welding, cutting and fabrication.
• Maintain all mechanical systems related to the rolling process.

• Rigging, crane and mobile equipment operation.
• Read and interpret blueprints and piping diagrams.
