Job summary

LyondellBasell Industries in Edison, NJ is seeking a Rotating Equipment Engineer to join our maintenance team. You will support plant operations, implement reliability best practices, and develop preventive maintenance tasks for pumps, compressors, and related machinery.

The role requires 5–10 years of experience with rotating equipment in chemical/petrochemical environments, strong problem-solving skills, and collaboration with process and project teams. Excellent safety record is essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
5–10 years of rotating equipment design, installation, and maintenance experience in refining, petrochemical, chemical, or power generation.
Ability to drive continuous safety and reliability improvements in equipment installations and work processes.
Strong written and oral communication with internal and external clients.
Familiarity with ASME, API, ANSI codes; machinery diagnostics and repairs.
Experience with predictive/condition-based maintenance and RCA methods.
Proficiency with SAP and Meridium; knowledge of MS Office.

Responsibilities

Be the site subject matter expert for rotating machinery assets (pumps, compressors, fans, gearboxes, agitators).
Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements.
Develop and implement preventive maintenance strategies and long-range upgrade plans.
Provide technical support during design, installation, and modification of assets.
Lead turnaround planning, execution, and optimization activities.
Mentor junior mechanical engineers and share best practices.
