Job summary

ASM Research seeks a Mid RCA Engineer to perform structured root cause analyses on recurring or high-impact incidents, gathering data from logs, traces, metrics, and configurations to reconstruct timelines and identify true causes. You will work with Incident Response, Problem Management, SRE, and engineering teams to document outcomes and define corrective actions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT, CS, business administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 4–7 years in IT operations, incident/problem management, or reliability engineering.
• Strong ITIL knowledge and experience with incident/problem management tools.
• Expertise in at least one RCA methodology and ability to coach teams.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, facilitation, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Apply RCA methodologies (5 Whys, fishbone diagrams) based on incident complexity and impact.
• Gather and analyze monitoring data, logs, traces, configuration records, and incident timelines.
• Lead cross-functional RCA sessions with operations, engineering, cybersecurity, and business teams.
• Translate RCA findings into corrective and preventive actions aligned with Problem Management workflows.
• Define and track RCA metrics such as recurrence rates and RCA cycle time.
• Produce high-quality RCA reports describing what happened, why it happened, and prevention steps.
• Identify systemic reliability risks and patterns across incidents.
