Job summary

ASM Research, An Accenture Federal Services Company is seeking a Mid Root Cause Engineer (RCA) to perform structured RCA on recurring or high-impact incidents for mission-critical federal IT services. You will collect evidence across logs, traces, metrics, and configuration data to identify root causes and document actionable improvements.

The role requires 4–7 years of IT operations or reliability engineering experience, strong ITIL knowledge, and a current active secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in IT or related field.
• 4-7 years in IT operations and RCAs.
• Strong ITIL knowledge and incident/problem management experience.
• Experience with structured RCA methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, facilitation, and communication skills.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced enterprise.
• Must hold current active secret security clearance or higher.

Responsibilities

• Perform structured RCA using methodologies like 5 Whys and fishbone.
• Collect and analyze logs, traces, metrics, and config data.
• Lead cross-functional RCA sessions with operations, engineering, and security.
• Translate findings into corrective and preventive actions.
• Define and track RCA metrics and improve recurrence reduction.
• Integrate RCA with ITIL-based Problem Management and CSIs.
• Produce high-quality RCA reports explaining cause and prevention.
• Identify systemic reliability risks across incidents.
