The Room Service and Afternoon Tea Supervisor assists with the organization, management, and daily operations of the departments while maintaining high standards of food quality, service, and hospitality. The Supervisor provides daily direction and training, monitors service standards, supports revenue, payroll, and productivity goals, and assists with operational and administrative responsibilities in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
Key Requirements
- Availability: Available to work any day of the week, including weekends and holidays. Available to work both AM & PM shifts.
- Experience: Two to three years of experience as a Room Service Supervisor. At least three years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
- Food & Beverage Knowledge: Knowledge of food service operations and a variety of service styles.
- Leadership: Ability to supervise, motivate, train, and provide feedback to employees while maintaining established service standards.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and employees at all levels.
- Organization: Ability to multitask, prioritize departmental responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
- Professionalism: Must maintain a warm, friendly, attentive, courteous, and service-oriented manner at all times.
Duties & Responsibilities
Daily Operations & Supervision
- Oversee all aspects of the daily operation of the hotel’s Room Service and Afternoon Tea operations.
- Supervise the Room Service area to attract, retain, and motivate employees.
- Manage daily labor levels and assist in maintaining budgeted productivity.
- Organize daily shift documentation, including pre-shift reports, training topics, floor plans, and requisitions for beverage, food, and dry goods.
- Ensure effective communication and continuity between shifts.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness of Room Service work areas.
Training & Service Standards
- Ensure staff consistently meet established standards of service through ongoing training and reinforcement.
- Monitor and test service skills and provide coaching, retraining, and feedback as necessary.
- Reinforce food quality, service standards, and attention to detail on a daily basis.
- Ensure compliance with Room Service Standard Operating Procedures.
- Promote a positive work environment and maintain strong employee engagement.
Guest Service & Operations
- Ensure guests receive optimal levels of service, quality, and hospitality.
- Regularly review house counts, forecasts, and VIP lists while maintaining the confidentiality of hotel and guest information.
- Ensure the timely and accurate setup and delivery of guest amenities.
- Ensure Hospitality Suites are set up, serviced, and broken down in a timely manner and according to instructions.
- Approach all guest and employee interactions in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
- Listen to, understand, and appropriately address concerns raised by guests and employees.
Financial & Administrative Responsibilities
- Assist with controlling budgeted and forecasted revenues, payroll, and product costs.
- Assist in developing marketing initiatives, menu items, and other programs designed to stimulate sales and support current market developments.
- Assist in maintaining POS programming for Food & Beverage outlets.
- Ensure compliance with Accounting and Human Resources policies and report issues or grievances to the appropriate Director or Human Resources.
- Prepare and submit required reports accurately and in a timely manner.
Compliance & Professional Standards
- Ensure compliance with applicable local liquor laws and health and sanitation regulations.
- Maintain regular attendance in accordance with hotel standards and scheduling requirements, which may vary based on the needs of the hotel.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
- Maintain a warm, friendly, helpful, and courteous demeanor with all guests, managers, and fellow employees.
Qualifications
- Two to three years of Room Service Supervisor experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous hotel or food and beverage supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of food service operations and various styles of service.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple departmental functions and priorities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment.
