Job summary

CertainTeed in Portland, Oregon is seeking a Process Engineer to refine and optimize manufacturing processes in roofing production, applying SPC, Lean, and Six Sigma to improve yields and quality. You will partner with operations, maintenance, and quality teams and manage projects to meet targets.

Requirements include a BS in Mechanical Engineering, Six Sigma experience, CAD skills, and 2–10 years of manufacturing design/engineering experience; strong communication and planning abilities are

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering with strong SPC and Lean knowledge.
• Six Sigma experience and CAD familiarity are required.
• 2–10 years design/engineering in manufacturing preferred.
• Project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze production data, apply SPC/DOE, and reduce process variation.
• Develop and optimize industrial processes from inception through startup.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance and quality teams to implement CAPA.
• Modify equipment/processes to improve quality and capacity.
• Plan mechanical project work and manage contractors during projects.
• Document mechanical specs, drawings, and safety procedures.
• Apply Six Sigma and WCM tools to improve cost and quality.
• Ensure adherence to waste management and safety protocols.
